【摘要】:Thisguideprovidesinformationwhichtheregulator/permitofficials,engineers,wastedisposaloperators,andotherswillfindhelpfulto(1)understandanddistinguishbetweenthemanychoicesavailable;(2)understandtheperformancefeatureconsiderationsforlivinguptoEPAregulationsforlandfilldailycovers,and(3)understandthevariousrequirementsanddifferencesforputtingthesecoversintopracticeatlandfills.1.1Thisguideisintendedtoassistspecifiersandendusersinassessingthedifferentoptionsavailableforsanitarylandfilldailycovermaterialsdescribedasalternative(non-soil)dailycovers(ADCs).Traditionaldailycoverconsistsofatleast6in.ofsoilspreadovertheworkingfacesofsanitarylandfills.Alternativesystemsareattractivetolandfilloperationsinordertoconservelandfilldisposalspace,amongotherreasons.1.2ThisguideassistsinunderstandingdifferentperformancefeaturesofbroadclassificationsofADCs,anddeterminingtheextentanddegreetowhichdifferentADCsareabletox201C;controldiseasevectors,fires,odors,blowinglitter,andscavenging,withoutpresentingathreattohumanhealthandtheenvironment,x201D;asintendedbyUnitedStatesEnvironmentalProtectionAgency(USEPA)regulations.1.3ThisguideisnotintendedtoprovidecostinformationregardingthevariousADCsasastandardguide,itdoesnotdictateaprotocolforthepracticeandtestingofADCs,butratherprovidesvaluableinformation,guidance,andrecommendationstointerestedpartiesconcerningthemanyoptionsavailable.
